Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
Knife Fit (https://www.knifefit.io) compares Japanese knife prices. You can use the whole site without an account and without giving us your name or email. This page explains the little we do collect, and only with your permission.
Who is responsible
Knife Fit, operated from Israel, is responsible for the data described here. For any privacy question or request, write to knifefit20@gmail.com.
What we collect
Only if you click Accept in the cookie banner, we use PostHog, a product analytics service, to record:
- the pages you view, the links and buttons you click, and the searches and filters you use;
- your quiz answers (knife type, foods, size, care, budget and picks), which also appear in the page address;
- session recordings: a replay of how the page moved and what you clicked. Text you type into fields is masked and not recorded;
- technical data your browser sends with every request: IP address, browser and device type, screen size, language, the page you came from, and an approximate location derived from the IP.
PostHog stores a random identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage so visits from the same browser can be counted together. It does not know who you are.
Without your consent, nothing is sent to PostHog and no analytics cookie is set.
In your browser only, two small entries in local storage are kept whatever you choose: your cookie choice, and the date the "Too many options?" quiz suggestion was shown, so it appears on your first visit only. Neither is sent to us or identifies you; the cookie table lists them.
Always, our host Vercel counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you across sites. Like any web server, Vercel also processes your IP address to deliver the page and keep the site secure.
Why, and on what basis
We use analytics to understand which pages help people and which confuse them, and to fix what breaks. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time on the Cookie settings page. Page delivery and Vercel's cookieless counting rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, secure site.
We don't sell or share your data for advertising, don't build profiles of you, don't run ads, and don't use your data to make decisions about you.
Who processes it
- PostHog Inc. (analytics and session recordings), servers in the United States.
- Vercel Inc. (hosting, image delivery and cookieless page counts), servers in the United States and worldwide.
Both act on our instructions. Data sent to the United States is protected by their standard contractual clauses and data processing terms.
Product photos and store links
Product photos belong to the stores credited under them. They are fetched and delivered by Vercel, so the stores don't receive your IP address when you view them. When you click through to a store, you leave Knife Fit, and that store's own privacy policy applies.
How long we keep it
Session recordings are deleted after at most 90 days, and other analytics events after at most 24 months. Your cookie choice is kept in your browser until you change it or clear your browser data.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. These rights come from the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's PIPEDA and Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, and we give them to everyone.
Because we don't know who you are, we may need the identifier PostHog stored in your browser to find your data. Write to knifefit20@gmail.com and we will answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in Israel, the Privacy Protection Authority).
We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a refusal: no analytics runs unless you accept in the banner yourself.
Children
Knife Fit is meant for adults and isn't directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we'll ask for your consent again.
